September 13 would have been the 100th birthday of author ROALD DAHL He was born in Wales and as a young man served as a Royal Air Force fighter pilot during World War II. Among his many popular children’s books was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which was made into a 1971 film starring Gene Wilder as the eccentric Willy Wonka, owner of the world’s most mysterious and magical candy factory.
